Information for visitors
Wise Health System East Campus is now Medical City Decatur, a campus of Medical City Denton, and part of a larger family of trusted providers offering expanded care for our hospital guests. As such, we want you to feel safe and comfortable during your visit. Learn more below about the amenities and services we offer.
Visitor policy
- COVID-19-positive individuals may not visit.
- By entering, visitors acknowledge they have not recently been exposed to a COVID-19-positive individual and are not experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Masking is now optional for employees, medical staff and visitors in all of our facilities, including hospitals, surgery centers and outpatient clinics. Masks may still be required in areas of more complex care, such as intensive care or transplant units.
- Exposed visitors (e.g., contact with COVID–19 patient(s) prior to admission) should be advised to report any signs and symptoms of acute illness to their healthcare provider for a period of at least 14 days after the last known exposure to the sick patient.
Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this page. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to provide assistance with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.
Cafeteria
Our hospital's dining facility is sure to please anyone's appetite and is open daily from 7:00am to 2:00pm. The menu features freshly cooked entrées and a fresh salad bar is also available. You'll also find a large variety of breakfast and lunch items in the deli.

James F. Wood Memorial Garden
In honor and memory of James Wood, a dedicated local businessman and committed member of our board, the James Wood Memorial Serenity Garden is a tranquil and quiet place for patients and families to reflect and relax.
Gift shop
The gift shop is located near the main hospital entrance on the main campus. Members of our hospital's auxiliary program operate the shop and offer a variety of high-quality items for your loved ones, such as stuffed animals, jewelry, home décor, baby gifts, greeting cards and more.
The shop is open Monday through Thursday, from 10:00am to 3:00pm and Sundays from 10:00am to 2:00 pm. You may make gift orders or order fresh flowers by phone by calling a team member at (940) 626-1235. Have your payment handy and your order will be delivered to your loved one's room.
Proceeds from our gift shop fund the equipment donations, furniture and other hospital necessities.

Flu season guidelines
Your Medical City family is committed to providing you with a safe and secure environment as a part of our promise to you.
In an effort to prevent the spread of influenza and other respiratory illnesses, we ask that you adhere to the following Visitation Guidelines that will remain in effect throughout "flu season." These guidelines apply to all visitors, including family members:
- If you are visitor with flu-like symptoms - fever and cough or sore throat - please avoid contact and interaction with patients and refrain from visiting patient care areas. On some units, visitors may be screened for symptoms.
- If you are healthy and choose to visit a patient, please look for, and comply with, any precautions that may be listed at the entrance of that patient's room. If you have any questions, please ask a health care provider before entering the room.
- Please wash your hands or use the waterless hand sanitizer before and after visiting.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to follow the guidelines listed above.
