How to prepare for your examination
You'll be provided instructions for your specific exam, but here are some general guidelines to follow.
Preparing for your diagnostic test
Your exam can last anywhere from 10 minutes to more than an hour, and you may be asked to stand, lie down or hold your breath for parts of the procedure.
Leading up to the exam, your care team may ask you to refrain from drinking or eating.
If contrast agents, such as iodine or barium-sulphate are used, you may feel nauseous or experience a headache.
During the exam, you may be asked to remove jewelry and wear a hospital gown or a rubberized shield to cover your reproductive organs.
