Alan Harmatz, MD named Medical City Healthcare chief medical officer
Dallas, Texas — Alan Harmatz, MD, FACS, ASPS, has been named chief medical officer (CMO) of Medical City Healthcare.
As CMO, Dr. Harmatz provides senior clinical direction and collaborates closely with physicians, clinicians, colleagues and leadership to ensure the successful implementation of the division’s vast and multi-faceted patient care initiatives. He focuses on ensuring outstanding clinical care through exceptionally effective and compliant quality management programs, including patient and employee safety initiatives.

Dr. Harmatz previously served as CMO for Medical City Dallas, also providing clinical direction to physicians and clinicians at Medical City Children’s Hospital, Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital. Prior to that, he was CMO for HCA Healthcare’s Florida Brandon Hospital where he developed a software program to reduce medical complications — a system now used at HCA Healthcare hospitals across the country.
Board-certified in plastic surgery, Dr. Harmatz earned a Doctor of Medicine from New York Medical College and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pace University in New York. He completed a general surgery residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland and a plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire.
