Dallas, Texas — Medical City Dallas Transplant Institute has reached a significant milestone, completing its 100th liver transplant since launching the program in November 2022. The achievement highlights the rapid growth and clinical excellence of Medical City Dallas’ transplant services and reinforces its role as a leading abdominal transplant center in North Texas and regionally.
To mark the milestone, Medical City Dallas recently hosted a celebration bringing liver transplant patients back together with their care teams. Among those in attendance was Quinten Webb, the first liver transplant recipient. Since receiving his liver transplant in November 2022, Webb has made a full recovery and shared his gratitude for the comprehensive care team that guided him through hospitalization and helped him build positive habits for a healthy life after transplant.
In just three years, Medical City Dallas has emerged as a market leader in abdominal transplantation, offering single- and multi-organ transplants for kidney, pancreas, liver and heart. The program continues to deliver exceptional patient outcomes while expanding access to complex, life-saving care for patients across North Texas and beyond.
“Reaching our 100th liver transplant is more than just a numerical benchmark; it reflects the steadfast commitment of our systems of care,” says Jay deVenny, CEO of Medical City Dallas. “We take pride in our physicians, nurses and Transplant Institute colleagues who deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients. As demand grows, we remain focused on expanding access to advanced transplant therapies and ensuring patients across North Texas have a destination for exceptional, lifesaving treatment.”
In 2025 alone, Medical City Dallas performed 295 abdominal transplant surgeries. The liver transplant program continues its steady growth, with 26 patients currently on the hospital’s liver transplant and more than 9,000 patients on the national waitlist according to Donate Life America.
Medical City Dallas further strengthened its transplant capabilities in October 2023 with the opening of a new Abdominal Transplant Clinic. The $6 million clinic brought pancreas, liver and kidney patients together with their care teams in a centralized, patient-focused environment designed to enhance coordination of care and improve outcomes.
Key features of the expanded transplant services include:
- 32,560 square feet of clinic space, more than double the combined size of previous clinics
- 23 new exam rooms and one procedure room, all located within a single unit
- A new operating room dedicated exclusively to liver, kidney and pancreas transplants
- Advanced ultrasound technology for enhanced imaging
- A 10-bed intensive care unit dedicated to transplant patients
This expansion played a vital role in helping Medical City Dallas surpass the landmark of 100 liver transplants, further reinforcing its position as a destination of choice for healthcare excellence and comprehensive transplant care. Learn more about transplant services.
