Fort Worth, Texas — Medical City Fort Worth celebrated the opening of its fifth cardiac catheterization laboratory, a $2.4 million investment that expands capacity for advanced heart care in North Texas.
The new lab supports continued growth in interventional cardiology, structural heart and electrophysiology services. Medical City Fort Worth performed approximately 4,700 cardiac catheterization procedures in 2025, with volumes increasing by an average of 10% annually over the past four years.
"This investment reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional care while preparing for continued growth in our community," says Matthew Sartorius, chief operations officer at Medical City Fort Worth. "The addition allows us to advance research and innovation, train the next generation of specialists and expand access to advanced procedures when and where patients need it, close to home."
Medical City Fort Worth offers physician fellowship programs in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and electrophysiology, providing hands-on training opportunities in a high-volume setting while helping address the growing national shortage of cardiovascular specialists.
"This space represents much more than new equipment," says Farhan Ali, MD, medical director of the Structural Heart Program and program director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Medical City Fort Worth. “It will help us continue delivering leading-edge treatments, expanding clinical research and educating future cardiologists."
As a regional referral center, Medical City Fort Worth serves patients throughout Fort Worth and surrounding communities. The fifth lab is now fully operational and supports a broad range of diagnostic and interventional procedures, further strengthening the hospital's heart program.
