Medical City Fort Worth's Summer of Service provides 50,000 meals
Medical City Fort Worth colleagues have donated $7,000 and 1,500 pounds of food to the Tarrant Area Food Bank, contributions that will provide more than 36,000 meals to families in need. These efforts, part of Medical City Healthcare’s “Summer of Service” and “Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows” initiatives, highlight the hospital’s commitment to addressing food insecurity in Fort Worth and surrounding areas.
As part of the hospital’s Summer of Service initiative, more than 70 colleagues gathered at the Tarrant Area Food Bank to present the donation check, inspect and sort produce and pack boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables for distribution. Combined with the hospital’s volunteer work, the total impact of this year’s Summer of Service initiative will provide 50,000 meals for the community.
“Medical City Fort Worth colleagues are passionate about serving beyond our hospital walls,” says John Hoover, CEO of Medical City Fort Worth. “Whether through financial support, food donations, or hands-on volunteering, we’re proud to be advancing healthcare through partnerships including the Tarrant Area Food Bank and its fight against hunger.”
The Tarrant Area Food Bank, serving 13 counties across North Texas, provides nutritious food to local food pantries, shelters, and community kitchens, while also offering programs to address the long-term causes of hunger.
Medical City Fort Worth’s Summer of Service initiative is an annual program encouraging employees to participate in various volunteer activities and community service projects. The initiative aims to foster a culture of giving and reinforce the hospital's commitment to compassionate care and community engagement.
