Medical City Frisco achieves bariatric reaccreditation
Frisco, Texas — Medical City Frisco has earned its third accreditation under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) by following a rigorous review process in accordance with nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards, in conjunction with the American College of Surgeons.
To qualify for accreditation, Medical City Frisco’s inpatient surgery center demonstrated recognized bariatric surgical standards and passed an independent, voluntary and rigorous peer evaluation which promotes uniform standard benchmarks and supports continuous quality improvement.
Expert surgeons at The Bariatric & Metabolic Institute at Medical City Frisco specialize in four types of bariatric surgery based on individual patient needs, including robotic surgery:
- Sleeve gastrectomy
- Gastric bypass
- Duodenal switch
- Revision surgery
The Bariatric & Metabolic Institute at Medical City Frisco also supports patients with sustainable changes through support groups and educational seminars.
“Achieving MSMBIQ accreditation gives people confidence that Medical City Frisco offers a comprehensive and compassionate program and has passed rigorous oversight from an independent board of experts,” says Ken Stevens, CEO of Medical City Frisco. “Upholding these high standards is why our community turns to us as the destination of choice for healthcare excellence in our community.”
According to the ASMBS, metabolic/bariatric surgery is the most effective and long-lasting treatment for severe obesity and may reduce a patient’s risk of premature death by 30-50%.
