Dallas, Texas —  Medical City Heart Hospital marked a major milestone in its commitment to increasing access to advanced cardiovascular care with a ribbon cutting for its $60 million expansion.

Hospital leaders, physicians, elected officials and community partners celebrated at a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 3. The expansion adds a 28-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU), increasing the hospital’s capacity from 63 to 91 beds to meet the growing need for advanced heart care in North Texas. The CVICU will treat critically ill patients recovering from cardiac surgery, heart attacks, severe heart failure and other life-threatening conditions.

“The expansion is a transformative step forward for our hospital and the communities we serve,” says Andrea Daniels, CEO of Medical City Heart Hospital. “With additional critical care capacity, we will save more lives and continue to lead in system wide excellence and innovation in cardiovascular medicine.”

Among the highlights of the new CVICU are four rooms specially designed for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a sophisticated life support therapy for patients experiencing heart and lung failure. Medical City Heart Hospital is internationally recognized for ECMO excellence by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization.

The expansion also includes infrastructure to accommodate future growth, with space allocated for additional patient rooms as demand continues to rise.

This investment reflects Medical City Healthcare’s system-wide commitment to advancing care through innovation, research and workforce development while delivering compassionate, patient-centered treatment. Over five years, Medical City Healthcare has invested more than $1.7 billion in capital improvements, including building acquisitions and expansions, facility enhancements and leading-edge technology.

Medical City Heart Hospital has earned national accolades for its patient care, including recognition by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for cardiac care and being named by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the top cardiology programs in the country.
