January 22, 2026

Irving, Texas — A 56-year-old woman suffering cardiac arrest will thank the emergency and hospital teams who saved her life. Medical City Las Colinas will host the special ceremony to honor six Irving firefighters with a 2026 Life Saving Award and recognize hospital staff for the heroic efforts they demonstrated to save a woman’s life.

On Nov. 25, a crew from the Irving Fire Department, Fire Station 12, responded to a home to find a 56-year-old woman without a pulse and not breathing on the kitchen floor. EMS immediately began CPR and delivered a shock from an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the patient’s heart. After performing life-saving measures for seven minutes the woman’s heart began beating.

She was transported to Medical City Las Colinas where she was stabilized in the emergency room. She has since made a full recovery and will attend the ceremony to thank the team who helped save her life.

This case highlights the essential partnership between Irving Fire/EMS and the dedicated care team at Medical City Las Colinas. Because of rapid intervention and expertly coordinated response, a potentially fatal cardiac arrest became a remarkable story of recovery.
