Medical City Healthcare acquires Urgent Care locations
Dallas, Texas — Medical City Healthcare announced the purchase of 13 CommunityMed urgent care centers that will be part of CareNow® Urgent Care.
The locations are strategically located in communities underserved by urgent care including Arlington, Bartonville, Crossroads, Haslet, Heath, Mansfield, Melissa, Midlothian, Princeton, Prosper and Wichita Falls, which is a new market for Medical City Healthcare. All staff members, nurses and physicians in good standing have been transitioned to Medical City Healthcare. Other terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
“We look forward to providing patients greater access to our comprehensive system of care, which includes 22 hospitals across the region,” says Allen Harrison, president of Medical City Healthcare. “We are proud to give North Texans more reasons to choose Medical City Healthcare as the destination of choice for healthcare excellence.”
Urgent care clinics offer exceptional healthcare services to treat non-emergent medical problems that can develop unexpectedly and require immediate attention, filling a gap between primary care physicians and hospital emergency rooms. With 22 North Texas hospitals, Medical City Healthcare care offers patients the expertise of a proven system of care with broad resources and comprehensive specialty services when a higher level of care is required.
As a result of this acquisition, CareNow will have more than 95 sites across Texas, strengthening Medical City Healthcare’s position as the largest urgent care provider in the region. The acquisition also significantly expands HCA Healthcare’s urgent care presence as one of the nation’s leading urgent care providers with more than 340 locations, with more than 4.2 million patient visits annually.
Medical City Healthcare has invested more than 1.7 billion over five years in access points including urgent care locations, infrastructure and leading-edge technology in North Texas.
