Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful moments, and families across North Texas continue to trust Medical City Healthcare for that special experience.
Three Medical City hospitals have been named 2026 “Best Hospital to Have a Baby” in DFWChild Magazine’s annual Best for Moms and Babies survey. The awards are based on thousands of votes from local parents, making this recognition especially meaningful because it comes directly from the communities we serve.
This year’s honorees include:
- Medical City Dallas, named “Best Hospital to Have a Baby” in Dallas County for the sixth year in a row
- Medical City Lewisville, recognized as “Best Hospital to Have a Baby” in Denton County for the sixth consecutive year
- Medical City Plano, awarded “Best Hospital to Have a Baby” in Collin County for the seventh time
Together, these honors reflect Medical City Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional labor and delivery care for growing families throughout North Texas.
What makes Medical City a great place to have a baby?
Medical City Healthcare continues to invest in expanded labor and delivery units designed with moms, babies, and families in mind. From comfortable, private rooms to thoughtful amenities that support bonding and recovery, every detail is focused on creating a calm, welcoming environment. The experienced physicians, nurses, and care teams who support families every step of the way, from pregnancy through delivery and beyond, are just as important. Their expertise, compassion, and dedication help ensure both mom and baby receive personalized, high-quality care.
But the voices that matter most belong to the families themselves. Parents who have welcomed their babies at hospitals often share stories of feeling supported, heard, and cared for like family during one of life’s biggest milestones.
Here are a few of their stories.
Medical City Dallas
When unexpected complications arose late in her pregnancy, Morgan Johnson was grateful she chose Medical City Dallas to deliver her son.
Doctors discovered Morgan’s placenta had developed in two sections and her baby’s umbilical cord was attached to the surrounding membrane rather than directly to the placenta. They also discovered her baby had a rare heart variation called persistent left superior vena cava, meaning one vein in his heart formed on the left side instead of the right.
Morgan worked closely with Dr. Robin Johnston, at the Maternal Fetal Institute at Medical City Dallas to closely monitor her pregnancy and her baby’s heart.
At 38 weeks, baby Caden Grey made his debut on January 1 at 11:16 a.m., weighing 9 pounds and measuring 22 inches long. He was the first baby born at Medical City Dallas in 2026. Today, both mom and baby are doing well.
“Medical City Dallas is the best place to have a baby because if something is wrong, the best doctors are already there and ready to care for your baby immediately,” Morgan shared.
Medical City Lewisville
Cameron Jennings delivered her baby boy, Will, at Medical City Lewisville in November and shared that “every single person I encountered was truly exceptional.”
From labor and delivery to mom/baby, Cameron said the care team made her feel supported, informed and confident — especially as a first-time mom. She noted the compassion and expertise of her nurses, who took the time to answer questions and provide reassurance every step of the way.
Medical City Lewisville’s labor and delivery team is known for its experienced obstetricians, dedicated nurses and personalized approach to childbirth. The hospital offers comprehensive maternity services, including private labor and delivery rooms, postpartum care and lactation support, all focused on the comfort and safety of mom and baby.
Thank you, Cameron, for trusting Medical City Lewisville with such a meaningful moment. We are honored to be part of your family’s beginning.
Medical City Plano
In 2022, Sharon Chimpamba arrived at Medical City Plano severely ill with COVID-19 pneumonia. She was also 20 weeks pregnant. Leading-edge ECMO treatment, and the expert teams at the hospital, helped her stabilize and give birth two months later to a healthy baby girl.
“Am I still pregnant?” Sharon asked when she awakened. Thanks to the technology that's available at only a handful of hospitals nationwide, she was. The support she received is why Medical City Plano's reputation for labor and delivery care is strong.
Sharon is thriving as a new mother, grateful for the care that saved both her and her daughter. Her story is a testament to the expertise and technology at Medical City Plano — one of the few hospitals nationwide equipped to deliver such lifesaving treatment.
