Community members may sign up to donate online.

“Every donation has the power to make a difference in the lives of patients who rely on lifesaving blood transfusions. We encourage our colleagues, patients and community members to join us in giving back,” says Medical City Decatur CEO Jason Wren.

Every blood type is needed, especially types O positive and O negative, as well as platelet donations. Donors can help as many as three different people with just one donation.

Blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. People who give blood should eat a nourishing meal before donating and must bring a photo ID. To protect Carter BloodCare staff and donors' health and safety, individuals who do not feel well or believe they may be ill with COVID-19 must postpone their blood donation.
