ACC Chest Pain PCI Accreditation earned by Medical City Decatur
Medical City Decatur has been accredited by the American College of Cardiology as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI, recognizing its expertise and commitment to high-quality care in evaluation and treating heart attack symptoms through rigorous onsite assessment.
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is also known as coronary angioplasty. It is a non-surgical procedure that opens narrowed or blocked coronary arteries with a balloon to relieve symptoms of heart disease or reduce heart damage during or after a heart attack.
Medical City Decatur’s ACC Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation highlights its 24/7 heart attack care, strict adherence to chest pain protocols, a robust hypothermia program for post-cardiac arrest treatment and a “No Diversion Policy” for out-of-hospital cardiac patients.
“This accreditation reinforces our dedication to providing our patients with excellent, expert cardiac care,” says Jason Wren, CEO of Medical City Decatur. “It is another reason our community turns to Medical City Decatur as the destination of choice for healthcare excellence in Wise County.”
To receive the Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation, Medical City Decatur successfully completed a multi-faceted clinical process, met an array of stringent criteria and has a team of doctors, nurses, clinicians and other administrative staff that earnestly support patient education and improved patient outcomes.
“Medical City Decatur has demonstrated its commitment to providing Wise County with excellent heart care,” says Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Medical City Decatur with Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI Accreditation.”
